A fellow dormitory resident witnessed the event, but did nothing to stop the attack. The two assailants allegedly “wanted to exorcise her of demonic spirits.” Howell Todd, president of the college, adamantly denied that the attack had anything to do with religion, despite the attackers’ attempt to get the victim to abjure Judaism.
